Funding for SunRail has moved from the State of Florida to the counties which the commuter rail system serves, plus the City of Orlando.

These local governments are struggling with dividing up their share of the costs.

Tri-Rail is funded by Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. This year, the commuter rail system is asking for an increase in funding from each of these local governments.

Some of the local news media are raising the alarm about the viability of Tri-Rail's request and, in turn, its future.
